Sandblasting Artwork
Before we take sand, or actually silicone carbide, to your blank, we will supply you with a proof to approve. These are available by email, fax or mail. The proof will offer the outline of the substrate we are blasting on, as well as the artwork that will be blasted into it. This will offer you a full scale depiction of what to expect, as well as an opportunity to verify the accuracy of all spelling, especially names.
Although we have some really great products available to blast on, the finished product will be no better than the artwork. Some of this will, at least at some level, be coming from you. We do have an assortment of corporate logos for larger organizations, but most we will need you to supply as a file or hardcopy. Our native environment is Corel Draw, so .cdr is our preferred format. Some of our blasting products require us to have standard artwork (black = blast), and some require a negative (white = blast). As such, an editable file is the preferred format to offer maximum flexibility. The time it takes to develop the artwork will influence your pricing. We are capable of drawing your artwork from scratch, if necessary.
When considering what to blast, remember that we only have one color of blasting media. If you have multi-color artwork, such as a logo, we need to come up with a black and white depiction of that logo to blast. In the future we will be offering the option of having blasted areas backfilled with paint. That is not offered now because we are not sufficiently experienced with the process yet that we are comfortable charging for that service.
These are some of the factors to consider when deciding on the artwork to blast. They will influence your net cost, as well as available lead time:
- Basic Text
- Add Logo or Graphics
- Pictures (Yes, we can convert color photos to B&W, then to dot matrix for blasting)
- Multiple Blasting Areas / Surfaces
- Format and Complexity of Original Artwork
- Size of Blasting Area
This is just intended to be a starting point to influence thought. We look forward to the opportunity to discuss your artwork and needs.
